About

South Maumee Campground sits along the Buffalo National River in the park's Middle District, about 7 miles off Highway 27 north of Morning Star via paved and gravel roads. The campground provides a primitive, quiet experience for campers seeking access to the river corridor. The campground features six designated campsites, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern hook. A vault toilet is available with limited servicing. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. This is a pack-in/pack-out facility with no trash service provided. South Maumee serves as a popular put-in and take-out point for paddlers on the Buffalo River. Long pools and gentle riffles mark this section of the river, providing good fishing opportunities. The campground is free to use and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations.
