About
Sam's Throne Campground sits atop Judea Mountain in the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest, offering spectacular views of the Big Creek valley below. While primarily known as one of Arkansas's premier rock climbing destinations with over 300 traditional, sport, and boulder routes along its mile-long sandstone bluff line, the area also attracts hikers, photographers, and campers seeking a primitive backcountry experience.
This is a dispersed camping area with approximately six primitive campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground operates under a pack-it-in, pack-it-out policy with no trash services provided. A vault toilet is available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own. The rugged setting and lack of amenities make this destination ideal for experienced campers comfortable with primitive conditions.
The area features multiple loop trails that showcase the dramatic rock formations and panoramic valley views. Whether you're a rock climber tackling the famous Chickenhead Wall formation or a hiker exploring the scenic trails, Sam's Throne offers a rewarding outdoor experience in the Arkansas Ozarks.
