A watch remains in effect for the Platte, Elkhorn and Loup rivers due to potential ice jam development. This heightened threat is due to persistent warm weather. Those with interests along area rivers, especially in low-lying areas, should remain vigilant to the potential for rapidly rising water. * WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast, and southeast Nebraska, including the following counties, in east central Nebraska, Butler, Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington. In southeast Nebraska, Cass. * WHEN...Through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...The formation of an ice jam could result in sudden rises of water, leading to a rapid flooding situation. Ice jams can cause water level fluctuations of 1 to 3 feet over a very short time period and without much notice. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Ice has started to move on the Loup River with additional ice movement becoming likely on the Platte and Elkhorn rivers.

Two Rivers State Recreation Area, located just west of Omaha near Venice, Nebraska, is one of the state's most popular recreation areas. The campground offers diverse camping options across multiple campgrounds including Lakeside, Cottonwood, Riverside, Oak Grove, Goldenrod, Fawn Meadows, and Whitetail (equestrian). With 168 electric sites (20-, 30-, and 50-amp service), 12 full hookup sites with water and sewer, 38 basic sites, and 25 equestrian sites, the park accommodates various camping styles. Five ADA-compliant sites are available. The park's signature feature is 10 refurbished Union Pacific cabooses that sleep four to six people, complete with air conditioning, modern bathrooms, kitchenettes, and outdoor decks. Camping amenities include modern restrooms with showers, dump station, fire rings, and picnic tables. The area features seven sandpit lakes and Platte River access for fishing, with Lake No. 5 serving as a popular put-and-take trout lake from March through May. Other recreation includes an unsupervised swim beach at Lake No. 4 (Memorial Day through Labor Day), equestrian trails, hiking trails, and adjacent wildlife management area for hunting. Half of the campsites are reservable from mid-April to mid-October up to 180 days in advance, while remaining sites operate first-come, first-served year-round.
