Branched Oak State Recreation Area, located just northwest of Lincoln near Raymond, is Nebraska's largest Salt Valley lake property with approximately 1,800 acres of water. The recreation area features an extensive campground system with over 300 modern camping pads, including sites with 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service, as well as 12 full hookup sites with water, sewer, and electric. Seven primitive campgrounds provide additional options for tent camping and basic RV camping. The modern camping areas are well-equipped with five shower houses, flush restrooms, drinking water, and four dump stations. The Homestead Campground includes a dedicated equestrian camping area with 14 corrals, hand-pump drinking water, and both electric and basic sites for horse campers. All developed campsites feature picnic tables and fire rings. Beyond camping, the recreation area offers two swimming beaches, a private marina with fuel and concessions, four boat ramps, fish cleaning stations, and extensive trail systems for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The property includes 14 different access areas around the lake, providing ample opportunities for boating, fishing, and hunting. A shooting range and archery range are also available on-site.

From Lincoln, Nebraska, take Highway 34 westbound until you reach the turnoff for the recreation area, following the clear signs that guide you towards this outdoor oasis.
