A watch remains in effect for the Platte, Elkhorn and Loup rivers due to potential ice jam development. This heightened threat is due to persistent warm weather. Those with interests along area rivers, especially in low-lying areas, should remain vigilant to the potential for rapidly rising water. * WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast, and southeast Nebraska, including the following counties, in east central Nebraska, Butler, Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington. In southeast Nebraska, Cass. * WHEN...Through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...The formation of an ice jam could result in sudden rises of water, leading to a rapid flooding situation. Ice jams can cause water level fluctuations of 1 to 3 feet over a very short time period and without much notice. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Ice has started to move on the Loup River with additional ice movement becoming likely on the Platte and Elkhorn rivers.

Eugene T. Mahoney State Park is a 690-acre modern state park located along the Platte River between Omaha and Lincoln. The campground features 148 sites split between Lakeside Campground near Baright Lake and Little Creek Campground near the playground and basketball court. Sites include full hookup, electric plus, and electric options, all with modern amenities including drinking water, showers, and restrooms at both campgrounds. A convenient dump and fill station is located near the park entrance. The park operates year-round and offers an exceptional array of facilities and activities. Amenities include the Peter Kiewit Lodge with 40 guest rooms, 60 cabins ranging from two to six bedrooms, and extensive recreational facilities. The Family Aquatic Center features water slides, wave pool, and water playground (open Memorial weekend through Labor Day). Winter activities include synthetic ice skating, indoor climbing wall, sledding, and cross-country skiing. The Activity Center provides year-round indoor playground fun. Additional park features include Owen Marina with paddleboat rentals and free fishing pole loans, an 18-hole disc golf course, miniature golf, driving range, horseback trail rides, hiking and biking trails, a 70-foot observation tower, nature conservatory, theater performances, and Carl's restaurant at the lodge. Eugene T. Mahoney State Park is located between Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska, off Interstate I-80 at Exit 426. From the exit, head north on Highway 66 for approximately 0.5 miles; the park entrance is on the left, just before the Strategic Air & Space Museum.
