Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area is one of eastern Nebraska's most popular camping destinations, offering approximately 40 land acres and nearly 300 water acres spread across 20 sandpit lakes. The recreation area features four distinct campgrounds with a variety of site types including Electric Plus, Electric, Basic, and Primitive campsites, all nestled among mature shade trees that provide natural cooling and ambiance. Recent major improvements to the Pathfinder and Victory Lake campgrounds have enhanced the camping experience significantly. These upgrades include electrical improvements at 156 campsites, installation of nine ADA-compliant camping pads, a new restroom and shower house at Pathfinder Campground, and a replacement dump station. All campgrounds provide modern amenities including flush restrooms, showers, drinking water, and two dump and fill stations for RV campers. Beyond camping, the recreation area offers extensive recreational opportunities. Powerboating and water skiing are permitted on lakes 10 and 15, while other lakes accommodate non-powered craft and electric trolling motors. Anglers can target largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and channel catfish, with seasonal rainbow trout stocking in Lake 2. The park features excellent fishing access with five floating piers, four ADA-accessible fishing piers, multiple fishing decks, and eight fishing nodes. A 2.3-mile wheelchair-accessible hiking loop trail, disc golf course, swimming beach on Victory Lake, and a concession stand round out the amenities. The park is located three miles west of Fremont, making additional services easily accessible.
