A watch remains in effect for the Platte, Elkhorn and Loup rivers due to potential ice jam development. This heightened threat is due to persistent warm weather. Those with interests along area rivers, especially in low-lying areas, should remain vigilant to the potential for rapidly rising water. * WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast, and southeast Nebraska, including the following counties, in east central Nebraska, Butler, Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington. In northeast Nebraska, Antelope, Colfax, Cuming, Madison, Pierce, Platte and Stanton. In southeast Nebraska, Cass. * WHEN...Through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...The formation of an ice jam could result in sudden rises of water, leading to a rapid flooding situation. Ice jams can cause water level fluctuations of 1 to 3 feet over a very short time period and without much notice. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Ice has started to move on the Loup River with additional ice movement becoming likely on the Platte and Elkhorn rivers.

Lake Cunningham Dam Site 11 Campground is located within Glenn Cunningham Lake Park, a 1,050-acre recreational area in north central Omaha, Nebraska. The park surrounds a 390-acre lake constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flood control and recreation, opening to the public in 1977. The lake is leased to the City of Omaha and operated by the Lake Cunningham Development Trust. The campground offers 42 full hookup sites, 40 electric hookup sites with 50-amp service, and 7 regular tent camping sites. Modern amenities include flush restrooms, showers, and a camp store. Park facilities include nearly 20 miles of multipurpose nature trails, a 6.2-mile paved trail around the lake, a disc golf course, a stationary archery range with nine targets, and an 11-lane scenic 3D archery range. Water recreation includes no-wake boating, fishing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding with rentals available through Neighborhood Offshore. The park is open daily from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. with 24/7 video surveillance and regular security patrols. North of Highway 36, 450 acres are designated as wildlife area with nature trails where horseback riding is permitted. The lake has a maximum depth of 23 feet and supports fishing and various water activities. Reservations are made through the campground's website at explorethec.com.
