About

Summit Lake State Recreation Area encompasses 345 land acres surrounding a 190-acre lake in northeastern Nebraska near Tekamah. The area offers diverse recreational opportunities including fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, hunting, and camping. The campground provides 33 tent sites and 43 electrical pad sites to accommodate various camping preferences. Recent improvements include jetties that give bank anglers access to deeper water, enhancing the excellent fishing opportunities available here. The campground features water access, vault toilets, a shower house, and a dump station. Additional amenities include a swimming beach, playground equipment, horseshoe pits, an archery range, and extensive trail systems popular with equestrians. Managed by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Summit Lake State Recreation Area operates year-round and requires a valid Nebraska park permit. The area's boat ramps provide easy water access for boaters and anglers. Group camping sites are available by reservation, making it suitable for larger gatherings.

Directions

From Tekamah, Nebraska, travel west on Highway 32 for approximately 3 miles, then turn south onto County Road F and continue for about 1.5 miles to reach Summit Lake State Recreation Area.
