About

Twisp River Horse Camp is a forested equestrian campground situated in the southwest end of the Twisp River area at approximately 3,180 feet elevation. This primitive camp is designed exclusively for campers with stock and serves as a trailhead for exploring the surrounding backcountry. Facilities include a loading ramp, hitch rails, and manure bunkers to accommodate horses and pack animals. The campground provides access to several trails including Twisp River Trail #440, South Creek Trail #401, Louis Lake Trail #428, and entry into the Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness. Wilderness regulations apply when entering the Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness, and a backcountry permit from North Cascades National Park is required to camp on National Park lands. Sites are standard nonelectric with a maximum length of 30 feet. Vault toilets and picnic tables are available. There is no potable water and no garbage service, so campers must bring adequate water supplies and pack out all trash. Payment can be made via the Recreation.gov mobile app using QR codes where cellular service is available.
