Klipchuck Campground sits in a heavily forested area along Early Winters Creek within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, approximately 19 miles northwest of Winthrop. The campground features 12 campsites set among majestic trees with the soothing sounds of the creek nearby. Access to Driveway Butte Trail is adjacent to the campground, and Cedar Creek Trail is nearby, offering both a short hike to a waterfall and longer backcountry options. The campground is located along the North Cascades National Scenic Highway, part of the Cascade Loop Scenic Drive and the Northern Tier Long Distance Bicycle Route. Each site accommodates two tents or one RV and one tent, with a maximum stay of 14 days. The area experiences heavy use during the summer season. Note that Early Winters Creek is closed to fishing per Washington State regulations. Facilities include vault toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, picnic tables at each site, fire pits, and trash receptacles. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with on-site payment via cash, check, or mobile Scan and Pay through the Recreation.gov app. Sites are $20 per night with an additional $10 fee for a second vehicle.

Directions

From Winthrop, drive 17.6 miles west on North Cascades Highway 20. Turn right onto Forest Road 300 and continue 1.3 miles to the campground.
