An Air Quality Alert has been issued by the following agencies: Washington Department of Ecology An Air Quality Alert has been issued for Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan Counties until further notice due to current and expected smoke from regional fires. Particulate matter (PM2.5) may reach Unhealthy levels for areas downwind from active wildfires. Be sure to check air monitors in your area before outdoor activities. When air quality is Unhealthy, everyone should reduce exposure. Limit time outside, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and follow tips for cleaner indoor air.

About

Poplar Flat Campground sits at 2,900 feet elevation in a pretty forested setting along the banks of the Twisp River in the Methow Valley. The campground provides a quiet base for exploring the area, with direct access to Twisp River Trail #440 for hiking, mountain biking, and day hikes. River and stream fishing opportunities are available nearby. Facilities include vault toilets, potable water from a hand pump, picnic tables at each site, and a group picnic shelter that can accommodate up to 12 people. A community kitchen area is also available. Sites accommodate 2 tents or 1 RV plus 1 tent, with a maximum of 2 vehicles per site. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Payment is $20/night for a single site, with an additional $10/night for a second vehicle. On-site payment is available via the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature where cell connectivity permits. Interagency Senior/Access pass holders receive a 50% discount on single sites.

Directions

From Twisp, turn west off State Highway 20 onto Twisp River Road (County Road #9114). Drive 12 miles as the road becomes Forest Road #44. Continue 5 miles as the paved road turns to gravel and becomes Forest Road #4440. Drive 4 more miles to Poplar Flat Campground. Total distance is 21 miles northwest of Twisp.
