About
Located 14.4 miles northwest of Twisp in the Methow Valley Ranger District, War Creek Campground offers a peaceful forest setting near the Twisp River. The campground is divided into two sections. The larger section stretches along seasonal War Creek with long parking aprons well-suited to recreational vehicles, while the sounds of the Twisp River echo in the distance. Some sites occupy a small grassy meadow. The smaller section sits just off the roadway and is better suited for tent campers and smaller vehicles. Mature Douglas fir trees provide ample shade throughout both sections, and a thick middle and understory layer ensures good privacy between many sites. The campground serves as a base for hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, and fishing. Nearby trailheads include War Creek Trail, Eagle Creek/Oval, and Twisp River Trail. Campers should be aware that rattlesnakes are occasionally seen in the area. There is no potable water available, so visitors must bring their own supply. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with payment available via the Recreation.gov mobile app. Maximum stay is 14 days.
