The Stehekin area is prone to flooding, which increases in a post-fire environment. Know before you go - check the forecast prior to your trip for outlooks and messages from the National Weather Service. Be very aware of your surroundings, follow warning signs, and pay particular attention to debris flow areas. About

Lakeview Campground is located in the remote Stehekin Valley at the head of Lake Chelan within the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area. Stehekin is completely roadless and can only be reached by passenger ferry, private boat, plane, or on foot, making it one of the most isolated campgrounds in Washington. The campground is a five-minute walk from Stehekin Landing along a hilly gravel and dirt trail. All nine sites are walk-in tent sites without vehicle access. Each site features a picnic table and food storage locker for bear safety. The campground includes a designated group space for PCT hikers with valid PCTA permits or backpackers using it for one night before or after wilderness trips. During peak season, flush toilets, potable water, and trash collection are available. The east side of the Cascades enjoys drier, warmer summers than the west side, with temperatures reaching the 90s. Trail access from the campground includes the Imus Trail, Purple Creek Trail, and Lakeshore Trail. Additional trails further up the valley are reachable by foot, bike, or shuttle bus. The area serves as a major entry point for multi-day backpacking trips into the North Cascades backcountry. Other nearby attractions include the historic Buckner Orchard and Rainbow Falls, a 312-foot waterfall. Lake Chelan offers boating and fishing opportunities, though swimming means braving 45-degree water. The North Cascades Lodge at Stehekin Landing has limited groceries, a restaurant, and public showers and laundry facilities.

Directions

There are no roads connecting Stehekin to the rest of Washington. Access is only via foot, boat, or plane. Passenger ferry service operates on Lake Chelan, or visitors may bring their own boat and moor at public docks with a federal dock permit. From Stehekin Landing, the campground is a five-minute walk southeast along a hilly gravel and dirt trail.
