Roads End Campground is permanently closed. USFS Road 4440 is gated shortly after the trailhead access road and the road is being decommissioned.

About

Roads End Campground was a small, primitive campground in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, located at the western terminus of Twisp River Road (Forest Road 4440). The campground sat along the scenic Twisp River, approximately 25 miles northwest of the town of Twisp in Okanogan County, Washington. The site served as a staging area for backcountry hiking, providing access to the Gilbert Trailhead and popular trails including Twisp Pass Trail 432, Copper Pass Trail 426, and North Creek Trail 413. These trails lead into the Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness. The campground has been permanently closed by the Forest Service and the access road is slated for decommissioning. Alternative camping options remain available at other campgrounds along Twisp River Road, including War Creek, Mystery, Poplar Flat, and Twisp River Horse Camp.

Directions

From Twisp, turn west off State Highway 20 onto Twisp River Road (County Road 9114) and drive about 12 miles. The paved road becomes Forest Service Road 44, then turns into gravel Forest Road 4440. Continue 13 miles to the end of the road. Note: The campground is permanently closed and the access road is being decommissioned.
