About

Twin Rivers Primitive Campsites are located within Twin Rivers State Forest, spanning Madison and Suwannee Counties in north-central Florida. The forest encompasses over 15,000 acres across 15 noncontiguous tracts, with campsites positioned along the Suwannee River. All sites are hike-in or paddle-in only with no vehicle access, making them ideal for paddlers exploring the river or hikers on the Florida National Scenic Trail. The campground consists of five primitive sites: one individual primitive campsite accommodating up to 8 people, and four group camps (Anderson Springs, Black Tract, Chitty Bend East, Ellaville Bluff, and Pot Springs) each accommodating up to 20 people. Paddlers should watch for yellow-banded trees marking campsite locations along the river. Recreational opportunities include fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, hunting, horseback riding, bird watching, and wildlife photography. The area is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. Campers must pack in all supplies including water and pack out all trash. Cutting trees for firewood is prohibited.
