About
Woods Ferry River Camp serves as the first primitive riverside campground on the renowned Suwannee River Wilderness Trail in north Florida. Accessible exclusively by water, the camp is situated approximately 10 miles downriver from White Springs, making it an ideal first night stop for paddlers embarking on multi-day river expeditions. The facility features five screened sleeping platforms, each equipped with a ceiling fan, electrical outlet, hammock hooks for three hammocks, and a small table with seating. Each platform accommodates up to eight people and includes an outdoor water spigot, dedicated fire ring, and picnic table. Beyond the platforms, the camp provides primitive tent camping sites, hot showers, flush restrooms, grills, and a covered picnic pavilion. The river camp is managed by Florida State Parks in partnership with the Suwannee River Water Management District. Woods Ferry River Camp is part of a chain of five river camps along the trail, each spaced roughly 10 miles apart to support extended paddling trips through Florida's scenic river wilderness. The camp operates year-round with no camping fees, though reservations are required through the Florida State Parks system. No vehicle access or overnight parking is available at the site.
