About
Dowling Park River Camp is one of five river camps along the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail, positioned at river mile 113.0 on the scenic Suwannee River. This 47-acre camp is managed by the Suwannee River Water Management District and offers a memorable camping experience with four of its five screened sleeping platforms elevated high into the tree canopy. Each screened platform accommodates up to eight people and includes ceiling fans, electrical outlets, hammock hooks for at least three hammocks, and a small seat and table. Just outside each platform, campers will find a spigot with potable water, a fire ring, and a picnic table. In addition to the platforms, primitive tent camping sites are available throughout the camp. The camp provides hot showers, flush restrooms, picnic pavilion, and grills. Located across the river from the Advent Christian Village retirement community in the town of Dowling Park, the camp serves as an ideal stopping point for multi-day paddling trips. From Dowling Park, paddlers can travel 9.7 river miles to Lafayette Blue Springs State Park or 18 river miles to Peacock Slough. The camp is accessible only by river—no vehicle access or overnight parking is available. Outfitters can arrange gear and food delivery to the camp.
