About

Located within the historic 548-acre Twin Lakes State Park in central Virginia, these picnic shelters provide excellent day-use facilities for group gatherings. Shelter 1 is the larger facility, accommodating up to 60 people with scenic views of Goodwin Lake, ADA-accessible parking and walkways, and proximity to a playground. Shelter 2 is a more intimate rustic structure built with cedar trunks and beams, accommodating up to 25 people and situated near the swimming area. Both shelters offer picnic tables with additional seating available nearby if vacant. The rental period runs from 8 a.m. to dusk. The park features two lakes totaling 40 acres, six miles of hiking trails, unguarded swimming at Goodwin Lake, fishing, and boating. Reservations for shelters must be made by phone and cannot be reserved online. Daily parking fees apply separately to shelter rentals.
