Chestnut Loop campground sits within Bear Creek Lake State Park, a 329-acre park nestled in Cumberland State Forest, less than an hour west of Richmond. The campground features 11 electric and water sites that accept 20, 30, and 50-amp service. Most sites provide partial shade, though sites 40, 42, 44, and 45 offer no shade. Three sites can accommodate equipment up to 35 feet in combined length of tow vehicle and trailer. Site 42 is ADA accessible and includes a sewer connection. A campground host is typically available on site 40. The campground provides access to Bear Creek Lake's 40-acre lake with boat launch, fishing pier, and swimming beach. Campers enjoy proximity to hiking trails and the 15.7-mile Cumberland Multi-use Trail in the adjacent state forest. The park features a 10-lane archery range, playground, and seasonal boat rentals. Each site includes a metal fire ring, picnic table, and gravel parking. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campground. Firewood is sold at the entrance to nearby Acorn Loop, with proceeds supporting the Friends of Bear Creek Lake State Park.

Directions

From U.S. Route 60, go west on Route 622 and south on Route 629 to the park entrance. Those coming from the west should continue on Route 60 East through Cumberland Courthouse area and turn left on Trents Mill Road (Route 622) to reach the park's main entrance.
