About
Nestled in the heart of Cumberland State Forest less than an hour west of Richmond, the Bear Creek Lake State Park Bunkhouse and Group Site Loop offers rustic group accommodations ideal for youth groups, scout troops, and family reunions. The bunkhouse is a basic two-room facility with seven bunk beds that can sleep up to 14 people, equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, heating and air conditioning, plus an outdoor charcoal grill and deck. Guests use the bathhouse in Chestnut Loop, located about 75 yards away. Adjacent to the bunkhouse is a primitive group campsite for tents only, accommodating up to 36 people with six picnic tables, a large pedestal grill, and a stone fire pit surrounded by benches. The group site is available April 1 through October 31. Both facilities provide access to the park's 40-acre lake with swimming beach, fishing pier, boat rentals, and extensive trail system including connections to the 15.7-mile Cumberland Multi-use Trail in the surrounding 16,000-acre state forest.
