About

Twin Bays campground sits within Curt Gowdy State Park, a 3,000-acre recreation area straddling the Laramie Mountains between Cheyenne and Laramie along Happy Jack Road (State Route 210). The park encompasses three reservoirs: Granite, Crystal, and North Crow, offering excellent fishing for rainbow trout, brown trout, and kokanee salmon. The granite rock formations throughout the park create a distinctive landscape. The campground provides standard amenities including vault toilets, fire rings with grills, and picnic tables at each site. Potable water is available during the main season but is shut off from October 1 through mid-May. Flush toilets and showers are located at the park visitor center rather than at the campground itself. The park does not have an on-site dump station; the nearest options are in Cheyenne or at Wyoming Territorial Prison near Laramie, each about 24 miles away. Curt Gowdy offers over 35 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, plus water sports and fishing on the reservoirs. The park is named after Wyoming native Curt Gowdy, the legendary sportscaster known for his work on ABC's Wide World of Sports.
