About
Twin Bays is one of 12 distinct camping areas within Curt Gowdy State Park, located in the picturesque foothills of the Laramie Mountains. The park sits at the crossroads of major interstates, 24 miles west of Cheyenne and 24 miles east of Laramie, Wyoming, accessible via State Route 210 (Happy Jack Road) to Granite Springs Road. The park encompasses seven sections of richly varied landscape, featuring three reservoirs: Granite, Crystal, and North Crow. Granite Reservoir offers excellent rainbow trout and kokanee salmon fishing along with water sports opportunities. Crystal Reservoir, the smallest, provides shoreline fishing with a 15 horsepower boat limit. The area is characterized by low-lying meadows, gently rolling hills, and massive steep granite formations. Curt Gowdy State Park is renowned for its high-end IMBA-certified mountain bike trails, excellent hiking, nearby off-roading, an archery range, and diverse recreational opportunities including kayaking, canoeing, and sailing. Wildlife abounds throughout the park, making it a prime destination for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. The park also features Hynds Lodge, listed on the National Register, and an amphitheater for cultural events.
