Sherman Hills campground occupies a scenic hilltop location within Curt Gowdy State Park, offering commanding views of Granite Springs Reservoir from an elevation of 7,231 feet. The campground contains 19 campsites suitable for tents, RVs, and trailers up to 40 feet, along with four year-round camping cabins. Each campsite includes a fire ring with grill and picnic table. The campground has vault toilets, while the park visitor center provides flush toilets and coin-operated showers available 24 hours. Curt Gowdy State Park spans seven distinct landscape sections in the foothills of the Laramie Mountains, with three reservoirs providing excellent fishing opportunities. Granite Springs Reservoir, visible from Sherman Hills, is known for rainbow trout and kokanee salmon. The park features extensive trail networks for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, plus an archery range and wildlife viewing opportunities. The four cabins at Sherman Hills include air conditioning, heating, microwave, and small refrigerator, with queen beds and twin bunks sleeping up to four guests. Cabins 2 and 4 are ADA accessible. Note that cabins have no running water or bathrooms inside. The park does not have a dump station; the nearest options are in Cheyenne or Laramie, each 24 miles away.

Directions

From Cheyenne, travel 24 miles west on State Route 210 (Happy Jack Road) to Granite Springs Road. From Laramie, travel 24 miles east on Happy Jack Road. The park entrance is at 1264 Granite Springs Rd, Cheyenne, WY 82009.
