About

Camp Russell Campground occupies a scenic portion of Curt Gowdy State Park in the Laramie Range foothills between Cheyenne and Laramie. At 7,277 feet elevation, the campground features striking granite rock formations and easy access to Granite Reservoir. The park offers an extensive trail system popular with hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians, plus fishing and non-motorized boating on three reservoirs. The campground operates year-round with seasonal variations in services. From May 15 through September 30, sites are reservable through the Wyoming State Parks reservation system. During the off-season from October 1 through May 14, all sites revert to first-come-first-serve with no reservations accepted. Water systems are shut off for winter on October 1, though flush toilets and showers at the visitor center remain operational year-round. Curt Gowdy State Park does not have an RV dump station on-site. Campers needing dump facilities must travel approximately 24 miles to Cheyenne or Laramie. Some sites offer electric hookups for an additional fee. The park requires a valid day use permit in addition to camping fees.
