About
Jerre's Haven campground, named in honor of Jerre Gowdy, wife of legendary sportscaster Curt Gowdy, is one of the newer camping areas at Curt Gowdy State Park. The campground features 13 campsites equipped with electrical hookups for RVs and trailers, plus 4 walk-in tent sites that provide a more primitive backcountry camping experience. Its convenient location near the Aspen Grove Trailhead, causeway, and camp store makes it an ideal base for exploring the park's extensive trail system and water-based recreation. The campground offers scenic views of Granite Reservoir, one of three reservoirs in the park known for excellent rainbow trout and kokanee salmon fishing. Campers have access to over 50 miles of mountain biking and hiking trails that wind through the foothills of the Laramie Mountains. The park's richly varied landscape includes low-lying meadows, gently rolling hills, and massive granite formations, with abundant wildlife viewing opportunities. Curt Gowdy State Park is strategically located 24 miles from both Cheyenne and Laramie via State Route 210 (Happy Jack Road), making it easily accessible from I-80 and I-25. The park attracts over 500,000 visitors annually and offers year-round recreation including boating, paddleboarding, fishing, ice fishing in winter, and access to a visitor center with showers and flush toilets.
Directions
From Cheyenne or Laramie, take State Route 210 (Happy Jack Road) to Granite Springs Road. The park is located 24 miles west of Cheyenne and 24 miles east of Laramie.
