Happy Jack is a camping loop within Curt Gowdy State Park, located at 8,000 feet elevation in the granite-studded foothills of the Laramie Range. The park straddles the divide between Cheyenne and Laramie along Happy Jack Road (State Route 210), offering 159 campsites across 12 distinct areas surrounding Granite, Crystal, and North Crow reservoirs. The park provides year-round camping with seasonal variations in services. Each campsite includes a parking spur, picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Vault toilets are located throughout the campgrounds, while flush toilets and showers are available at the visitor center. Electric hookups (50-amp) are available at 44 sites for an additional fee. Note that there is no dump station on-site; the nearest facilities are 24 miles away in Cheyenne or Laramie. Granite Reservoir offers rainbow trout and kokanee salmon fishing plus water sports, while Crystal Reservoir provides shoreline fishing for brown trout, rainbow trout, and kokanee. The park also features over 35 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, plus archery ranges and wildlife viewing opportunities.
