About

Tumbleweeds Campground sits within Curt Gowdy State Park in southeastern Wyoming, a scenic recreation area straddling the Laramie Range foothills roughly 24 miles west of Cheyenne and 24 miles east of Laramie via State Route 210 (Happy Jack Road). The campground includes sites 17-31 with water and electric hookups, while some sites near the reservoir offer more primitive camping experiences. Granite Springs Reservoir provides quality fishing for rainbow trout and kokanee salmon, along with boating and waterskiing. Crystal Reservoir offers a quieter alternative with a 15-horsepower motor limit. The park's trail system includes over 35 miles of IMBA-certified mountain biking routes, hiking trails, and an archery range. Aspen Grove campground nearby offers a free public horse corral for equestrian campers. The park's Visitor Center provides flush toilets and showers. Note that Curt Gowdy State Park does not have a dump station; the nearest options are the Southeast Wyoming Welcome Center in Cheyenne (free, 24 hours) or Wyoming Territorial Prison near Laramie ($10, May through October).
