About

Silver Crown campground is located within Curt Gowdy State Park, a premier outdoor recreation destination situated 24 miles west of Cheyenne and 24 miles east of Laramie along Happy Jack Road (State Route 210). The park encompasses richly varied landscape across seven sections in the foothills of the Laramie Mountains, featuring three reservoirs, extensive trail systems, and diverse terrain ranging from low-lying meadows to massive granite formations. The park's three reservoirs offer excellent fishing and water recreation opportunities. Granite Reservoir provides rainbow trout and kokanee salmon fishing along with water sports, while Crystal Reservoir, the smallest of the three, offers shoreline fishing with a 15-horsepower boat limit. North Crow Reservoir, located 5 miles west of park headquarters, serves as an unimproved day-use fishing area. The park is renowned for its mountain biking trails and hosts various events throughout the year. Silver Crown campground provides access to all park amenities including the visitor center, which features showers and restrooms, and the historic Hynds Lodge listed on the National Register. The area supports abundant wildlife and diverse birdwatching opportunities. The park's location at the crossroads of I-80 and I-25 makes it highly accessible for both local and traveling campers seeking a mountain camping experience in southeastern Wyoming.
