Twanoh State Park Campground

Open — Open year-round for camping. Reservations for campsites will be closed from June 1, 2026 through spring 2027 for a shoreline restoration project.

About

Twanoh State Park is a 188-acre marine camping park located on the south shore of Hood Canal near Union, Washington. Built in the classic style of the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the park preserves historic architecture while offering modern camping amenities. The park's name derives from the Native American Twana tribes, better known as the Skokomish, who originally made their home in this area. The campground features 25 standard campsites and 22 full hookup sites that can accommodate RVs up to 35 feet in length. Two restroom buildings with showers serve the campground. The park is known for having one of the warmest saltwater beaches in Washington state, making it exceptionally popular for swimming during summer months. Hood Canal's unique geography creates warmer water temperatures than typical Puget Sound beaches. Beyond the beach, visitors can explore 2.5 miles of forested trails that wind along Twanoh Creek through old-growth forest. The park offers excellent opportunities for shellfish harvesting, boating, kayaking, and fishing. Seven moorage buoys and a boat launch provide water access, while the day use area features 125 picnic tables, kitchen shelters, horseshoe pits, and a tennis court. A primitive campsite is available for Cascadia Marine Trail paddlers arriving by human or wind-powered watercraft.

Directions

From Skokomish on US 101, follow State Route 106 east for 12.5 miles. The park entrance is on the south side of SR 106 near Union, Washington.
