About
Hamma Hamma Cabin sits on a landscaped clearing surrounded by old-growth Douglas firs, dogwoods, and rhododendrons along the scenic Hamma Hamma River. Built from 1936-1937 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, this former Forest Service guard station is nominated to the National Register of Historic Places for its skilled craftsmanship. The cabin features a living room with a hexagonal bay window overlooking the river drainage, a futon that converts to a bed, two bedrooms with a double bed and bunk beds, and a full kitchen equipped with dishes, cookware, and utensils. The cabin is heated by propane and lit with propane lights. A flush toilet is provided, but there is no potable water on-site; guests must bring their own drinking and cooking water. Outside amenities include a picnic table, fire ring, and pedestal barbecue. The cabin is located near The Brothers Wilderness, Mt. Skokomish Wilderness, and Olympic National Park, offering access to hiking, fishing, and the quarter-mile Living Legacy Trail that interprets CCC history. The maximum vehicle length is 25 feet with space for two vehicles. Pets and smoking are prohibited. Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 PM.
