About
Belfair State Park occupies 65 acres along 3,720 feet of saltwater shoreline at the southern end of Hood Canal in western Washington. The park showcases the natural diversity of the Puget Sound region with its wetlands, wind-blown beach grasses, pebble beaches, and extensive tide flats that make it a premier destination for shellfish harvesting. The area was historically used by the Skokomish tribe as a campsite and gathering place before becoming an official state park in 1952. The campground offers 134 total campsites divided into three loops, including 90 standard campsites, 41 sites with full hookups (water, electric, and sewer), and accessible sites for visitors with disabilities. Tree Loop, with vehicle restrictions for trailers and motorhomes under 18 feet, operates seasonally from May 15 through September 15. The park also features 8 heated cabins (some with air conditioning), a Cascadia Marine Trail campsite for wind or human-powered watercraft, and hiker/biker sites. Modern amenities include restrooms with showers, drinking water, a dump station, and trash service. Beyond camping, Belfair State Park provides extensive recreational opportunities including beach exploration, kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing, swimming, hiking, and biking. A large grassy field is perfect for sports, and both first-come, first-served and reservable picnic shelters are available. The park is open year-round with gates open from 8:00 a.m. to dusk daily.
