About

Turtle River South Campground sits within Turtle River State Park, a 775-acre wooded valley carved by the meandering Turtle River in northeastern North Dakota. Constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s as part of President Roosevelt's New Deal initiatives, the park retains its rustic charm while providing modern camping amenities. The South Campground offers 35 modern campsites equipped with 50-amp electric and water hookups. Most sites are pull-through, with several exceeding 100 feet in length, making them well-suited for larger RVs. A central comfort station provides flush toilets and hot showers, and a dump station is located near the campground entrance. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. Beyond camping, the park features over 13 miles of multi-use trails winding through forested hills and along the river corridor. Anglers can fly fish for stocked rainbow and brown trout in the Turtle River. Winter brings cross-country skiing and sledding opportunities, though campground water systems close in early October.
