About

Riverside Campground occupies a quiet, wooded section of Turtle River State Park, one of North Dakota's most scenic state parks. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the park sits in a forested valley carved by the Turtle River, offering a rare woodland setting in the northern Great Plains. The primitive tent sites here are walk-in only, tucked among the trees and set back from the road for privacy. The campground shares 26 primitive sites with two neighboring tent areas (Cottonwood Crest and Trapper's Rest), each accommodating up to six people. Sites include fire pits and picnic tables. A vault toilet serves the tent camping areas, and campers have access to the park's shower facilities. Firewood and ice are sold at the visitor center. The surrounding park offers over 13 miles of trails through forested hills and along the river, suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing in winter. Trout fishing is available in the stocked river. The park operates year-round, making it accessible for both summer camping and winter recreation.
