About

Turtle River State Park Campground sits in a scenic wooded valley along the meandering Turtle River, offering a forested retreat in the heart of the Red River Valley. Constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the park features historic stone bridges and log buildings throughout its 784 acres. The campground includes 125 sites divided between modern campsites with electric and water hookups, pull-through sites suitable for large RVs, and secluded tent camping areas including Riverside, Cottonwood Crest, and Trapper's Rest. The park offers extensive recreational opportunities with over 13 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking that wind through forested hills and along the river corridor. Anglers can practice fly fishing techniques in the trout-stocked Turtle River for rainbow and brown trout. Winter transforms the park into a cross-country skiing and snowshoeing destination with groomed trails and a popular sledding hill. The park also features shaded picnic areas, a visitor center, flush toilets with hot water, showers, and a sewage dump station. Group facilities including the Woodland Lodge and several picnic shelters are available for weddings and reunions.
