About

Icelandic State Park Campground spreads across three loops around Lake Renwick, a small reservoir in northeastern North Dakota near Cavalier. Established in 1964 on 912 acres, the park honors the region's Icelandic heritage. The campground offers 136 modern campsites with electrical (20-50 amp) and water hookups, 7 group sites for multiple-unit camping, and 10 primitive tent sites along the shoreline. Sites include gravel and paved pull-through options suitable for larger RVs. Facilities include modern comfort stations with flush toilets and showers, a sewage dump station, and each site comes equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. The park features a dog park for off-leash pet activity, playground, amphitheater, and picnic shelters. Lake access includes a swim beach, boat ramp with courtesy dock, and fishing opportunities. Beyond camping, visitors can explore the Pioneer Heritage Center highlighting North Dakota's homesteading era, or enjoy seasonal activities from summer swimming and boating to winter cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on the park's trails.
