About
Red River State Recreation Area Group Campground is located within a unique 1,200-acre greenway that was established following the devastating flood of 1997 in East Grand Forks. This urban recreation area sits along the Red River of the North and offers convenient access to over 20 miles of paved multi-use trails, river fishing, and a swimming beach. The campground is situated in a former residential neighborhood, providing easy access to nearby shopping, restaurants, and amenities within walking or biking distance. The recreation area features mature trees and landscaping, wildlife observation opportunities including whitetail deer, and interpretive exhibits about the area's history and ecology. Visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, and fishing during warmer months. The park's location makes it an ideal stopover for travelers on US Highway 2, offering full-service camping in an accessible urban setting with natural surroundings.
Directions
From downtown East Grand Forks, head north on 2nd Street NW for approximately 0.5 miles. The campground entrance is on the left, just past Sherlock Park.
