About
Turtle River North Campground is part of Turtle River State Park, a 775-acre recreational area nestled in a beautiful wooded valley along the Turtle River in Grand Forks County. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the park preserves historic stone bridges and log structures while offering modern camping amenities. The North Campground features modern campsites equipped with electricity and water hookups, accommodating RVs and trailers in a shaded forest setting. Campers enjoy access to extensive recreational opportunities including over 13 miles of trails winding through forested hills and along the river corridor, perfect for hiking and mountain biking. The Turtle River is regularly stocked with brown and rainbow trout, providing excellent fly fishing opportunities. Park amenities include flush toilets, showers, a dump station, playgrounds, and picnic areas. The visitor center hosts interpretive programs throughout the summer season. During winter months, the park transforms into a destination for cross-country skiing on groomed trails, snowshoeing, and sledding. The park's proximity to Grand Forks makes it a popular choice for family reunions, group gatherings, and weekend camping trips in northeastern North Dakota's forested landscape.
