Turnipseed Campground is a primitive camping area situated in the Talladega National Forest, approximately 1.5 miles past Cheaha State Park along Highway 281. The campground sits near the edge of the Cheaha Wilderness Area, making it an ideal base camp for exploring the surrounding wilderness and hiking trails. The Chinnabee Silent Trail, a popular hiking route, runs through the campground and provides access to natural attractions including Cheaha Falls and Devil's Den. This is a no-frills camping experience designed for hunters, hikers, and campers who appreciate a quiet, secluded forest setting. The campground is set within mature mixed pine-oak forest and offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and bird watching. The area is especially popular during fall hunting season and when the forest canopy transforms into vibrant autumn colors. As a primitive facility, campers should come prepared with their own water and supplies. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis at a minimal fee, making it an affordable option for extended stays in the national forest.
