About

Located near Cheaha State Park in the Talladega National Forest, Lake Chinnabee Recreation Area offers a peaceful escape in the heart of Alabama's mountains. This 17-acre lake sits in a pastoral valley and provides access to primitive camping, fishing, picnicking, and excellent hiking opportunities. The Chinnabee Silent Trail connects the recreation area to the Cheaha Wilderness, making it an ideal basecamp for backcountry exploration. The recreation area operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Campers must bring their own water, as none is available on-site. Vault toilets are provided. A pavilion is available for day use rental. The area is accessible via County Road 135 to Forest Service Road 651, then Forest Service Road 646. Visitors should be prepared for primitive conditions and pack in all necessary supplies. The recreation area's remote location and connection to wilderness trails make it popular with hikers and nature enthusiasts seeking solitude in the Talladega Mountains.
