About

Lake Chinnabee Recreation Area is a day-use only facility tucked into a pastoral valley near Cheaha State Park in Talladega National Forest. This 17-acre lake provides opportunities for picnicking, fishing, and hiking, with both individual and group picnic sites available. The Chinnabee Silent Trail begins here and connects to Cheaha Wilderness. This is not a campground and no overnight camping is permitted. The area features vault toilets but no potable water is available. Non-motorized boating is permitted on the lake. Parking is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. The recreation area operates seasonally from March 1 through December 1. Day use fees are $3 per vehicle, with group site reservations available for $30 per day accommodating up to 40 people.

Directions

South of Oxford, AL, travel County Road 135 to Forest Service Road 651, then to Forest Service Road 646 to the recreation area entrance.
