Riverside West Campground is an Army Corps of Engineers facility located on the west bank of the Neosho River at John Redmond Reservoir in Coffey County, Kansas. This 168-acre park provides access to nearly 10,000 acres of water and 30,000 acres of surrounding land, making it a hub for water sports, fishing, and outdoor recreation in the rolling hills of eastern Kansas. The campground features 25 campsites with electric hookups and one large reservable picnic shelter. John Redmond Reservoir sits in the broad Neosho River Valley, where rolling hills showcase acres of agriculture and grassland with vast fields of wheat and corn. Large areas of native grasses including bluestem, Indian grass, and switch grass can be seen from the hilltops, while lower areas provide wooded cover of elm, black walnut, hickory, ash, hackberry, cottonwood, and cedar. Fishing is excellent throughout the reservoir, with abundant white crappie, white bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, and various sunfish species. Several trails wind through the hills and along the shore for hiking and biking. The Otter Creek ATV area at the west end of the dam provides 140 acres of trails for dirt bikes and ATVs. The nearby town of Burlington offers gas, grocery, and hospital services. Camping along the river or wingwall is not permitted.

Directions

From Burlington, Kansas, take US 75 north for about 3.5 miles, then turn west onto Embankment Road and continue for 2.5 miles and follow signs to park entrance.
