About

Dam Site Campground is located on the upstream side of John Redmond Dam and Reservoir in Coffey County, Kansas. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District, this 168-acre park offers 21 individual campsites spread across two loops. Twenty sites feature 20/30 amp electric hookups and water connections, while Site 14 is the sole non-electric option. The campground includes a shower house, two vault toilets (CXTs), playground, and two day-use shelters. John Redmond Reservoir spans approximately 30,000 acres and provides excellent fishing opportunities. White crappie, white bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, and various sunfish species are abundant. Two boat ramps serve the campground: a single-lane ramp with courtesy dock and a double-lane ramp. The nearby Otter Creek ATV area offers 140 acres of trails for dirt bikes and ATVs, open sunrise to sunset. The surrounding Neosho River Valley features rolling hills with views of agricultural fields and native grasses including bluestem, Indian grass, and switch grass. Lower areas are wooded with elm, black walnut, hickory, ash, hackberry, cottonwood, and cedar. The town of Burlington is about 3.5 miles south and provides gas, groceries, and hospital services.
