About

Dam Site Campground is located on the upstream side of John Redmond Dam and Reservoir in the rolling hills of eastern Kansas. This 168-acre park managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers offers 21 individual campsites with most featuring electric hookups, along with modern amenities including a shower house, playground, and two day-use shelters. The campground provides direct access to the 30,000-acre John Redmond Reservoir through two boat ramps. John Redmond Reservoir sits in the broad Neosho River Valley, where rolling hills showcase vast agricultural fields and grasslands with wheat, corn, bluestem, Indian grass, and switch grass. Lower areas feature wooded cover of elm, black walnut, hickory, ash, hackberry, cottonwood, and cedar. The reservoir provides excellent fishing for white crappie, white bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, and various sunfish species. Several trails wind through the hills and along the shore, while the nearby Otter Creek ATV area offers 140 acres of trails for dirt bikes and ATVs. The campground enforces a limit of three camping units per site with only one RV or camper, and allows pets on 6-foot leashes. The nearby town of Burlington provides gas, grocery, and hospital services approximately 3.5 miles south.

Directions
