About

Riverside East Campground occupies 168 acres on the east bank of the Neosho River within the John Redmond Reservoir recreation area in Coffey County, Kansas. The campground features 41 reservable campsites with electric hookups and two large picnic shelters ideal for group gatherings. John Redmond Reservoir spans approximately 30,000 acres and provides outstanding fishing opportunities. Anglers target white crappie, white bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, and various sunfish species. The reservoir supports extensive water sports and boating activities throughout the recreation season. Several hiking and biking trails traverse the rolling hills and shoreline, offering views of agricultural lands, grasslands dominated by bluestem and Indian grass, and wooded areas with elm, black walnut, hickory, ash, hackberry, cottonwood, and cedar. The nearby Otter Creek ATV area, located at the west end of the dam, provides 140 acres of trails for dirt bikes and ATVs. The town of Burlington, approximately 5 miles away, offers gas, groceries, and hospital services. The campground operates seasonally from April through October, with reservations available through Recreation.gov.
