About

Turkey Fork Recreation Area is the most popular recreation destination on the De Soto National Forest and one of the most visited outdoor recreation areas in south Mississippi. Built around a scenic 240-acre reservoir, the area offers a comprehensive range of recreational opportunities including camping, fishing, swimming, water skiing, boating, picnicking, and hiking. The campground features two developed camping areas: an RV loop with 20 sites equipped with picnic tables, grills, water, and electrical hookups, plus a dump station, and a primitive tent camping area with 8 sites. Three bathhouses with flush toilets serve the recreation area, and potable water is available from faucets throughout. Day visitors will find secluded picnic sites near the beach areas, and a 0.75-mile hiking trail connects the day use area to the camping area. The 240-acre lake is stocked with bass, crappie, and bluegill, making it a premier fishing destination. Watersports enthusiasts can take advantage of the boat ramp (open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.), floating dock, and two designated swim areas. The combination of developed amenities and natural beauty in the longleaf pine forest makes Turkey Fork an ideal destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts seeking a full-service camping experience in southern Mississippi.
