About

Big Foot Horse Camp is a primitive equestrian camping facility located in the De Soto National Forest in Stone County, Mississippi. Designed specifically for horse camping, the site provides access to approximately 23.7 miles of moderate difficulty trails consisting of four loops ranging from 5 to 11 miles in length, allowing riders to customize their route. The trails run parallel to roads at many points, making it possible to access the trail system at various locations. The campground offers basic amenities including parking areas, hitching rails, picnic tables, and grills at campsites. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no drinking water available for human consumption. Water for horses is available from two ponds and Tuxachanie Creek. The camp operates on a primitive, pack-in/pack-out basis with no trash service, hookups, or modern facilities. This is a no-fee recreation area open to all visitors. The site is ideal for riders of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced equestrians, seeking to explore the piney woods and gentle terrain of southern Mississippi's largest national forest.
