With hunting season underway, the National Forests in Mississippi is reminding all forest visitors to exercise caution and safety when visiting a national forest. Hunting is a safe, recreational sport. Some visitors, however, are sometimes surprised when they meet hunters on the forest.

Big Biloxi Recreation Area is a fully developed campground located along the scenic Big Biloxi River in De Soto National Forest. The facility features 25 campsites, all equipped with water and electric hookups, making it suitable for RVs and trailers up to 42 feet. Amenities include a modern bathhouse with hot showers, a dump station, picnic areas with a pavilion, and flush toilets. Four sites are designated as ADA-accessible. The recreation area offers a 0.5-mile nature trail for exploring the surrounding forest environment. The Big Biloxi River provides excellent opportunities for fishing, with bream, bass, and catfish being common catches. A camp host is typically on duty during operating seasons. Operating on a first-come, first-served basis, campers must arrive in person to claim a site. Payment is handled at the fee station near the entrance gate, with cash or check preferred. The area is generally open year-round unless weather conditions necessitate closure.

Take Highway 49 to De Soto Park Road. Turn west and travel 0.5 mile to the recreation area at 19551 De Soto Park Road, Saucier, MS 39574.
