Air Quality Alert issued January 16 at 11:31AM PST by NWS Pendleton OR

January 16th, 11:31 AM — January 20th, 10:15 AM

Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Quality Advisory until 10 AM PST Tuesday. For the Air Quality Advisory, stagnant air conditions will trap smoke and other air pollutants near the ground where people breathe. Check with your local health or air agency for current restrictions on woodstove use. There are often exceptions for those who use wood exclusively to heat their homes and those with limited income. People can take the following precautions to protect their health: * Follow local burn restrictions to prevent deteriorating air quality. * Avoid strenuous outdoor activity in smoky conditions. * People with heart or lung problems and young children are especially vulnerable. These people should stay indoors while smoke levels are high. * Use certified High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters in indoor heating ventilation, cooling, and air purification systems. * Avoid using wood-burning stoves and other sources of indoor smoke if possible. About

Tumalo State Park is nestled along the scenic Deschutes River approximately four miles north of Bend in sunny Central Oregon. The park offers a quiet, well-maintained campground shaded by large ponderosa pines, junipers, and alders, making it an ideal base camp for exploring the region's outdoor recreation opportunities including golf courses, mountain lakes, and wilderness areas. The campground provides 23 full hookup sites with electric, water, and sewer connections for RVs and trailers up to 35 feet, plus 54 additional tent or self-contained RV sites. Nine tent sites are positioned directly along the river. The park also features 7 yurts for guests seeking a more comfortable camping experience, 2 group campsites accommodating up to 25 people each, and a seasonal hiker-biker tent site available first-come, first-served. Modern amenities include flush toilets, hot solar showers, and laundry facilities. The Deschutes River provides excellent fishing opportunities for rainbow trout and whitefish, with both fly-fishing and bait casting popular among visitors. The park offers hiking trails along the river, a large day-use picnic area, and opportunities for wildlife viewing. While the campground has full hookups, it does not have an RV dump station; sewer hookups are not intended for draining full holding tanks. Four campsites and one yurt are ADA accessible, and the park is pet-friendly.
