About

Trimmer Campground is a small, intimate facility situated on the shore of Pine Flat Lake in central California's Sierra National Forest. The campground features 10 individual campsites in a single loop configuration, with half designated for RVs, trailers, or tents and the other half for tents only. Each site includes a picnic table, campfire ring, and grill. The facility is known for offering free hot showers, an uncommon amenity at National Forest campgrounds, along with well-lit, accessible restrooms with flush toilets. Pine Flat Lake is a 20-mile-long reservoir formed in 1954 with the completion of the Pine Flat Dam on the Kings River. The lake boasts 67 miles of shoreline and sits where oak and pine forests meet in the foothills of the central Sierra Nevada Mountains. A boat ramp and courtesy dock are located adjacent to the campground, and a full-service marina is nearby. The lake is popular for boating, jet skiing, water skiing, and fishing, with anglers finding wild trout, large and smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and planted trout. The campground is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and operates year-round. Visitors can explore nearby attractions including whitewater rafting on the Kings River in spring and early summer, scenic drives through Sierra National Forest, and Kings Canyon National Park. Wildlife viewing opportunities include bobcats and red-tailed hawks. Note that due to fluctuating water levels, lake access from the campground may vary seasonally.
