About
Camp 4 Campground is a small primitive camping area located at 1,000 feet elevation along the Wild and Scenic Kings River in the Giant Sequoia National Monument, managed by the Hume Lake Ranger District of Sequoia National Forest. The campground features five first-come, first-served campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, plus a vault toilet. The Kings River is popular for whitewater rafting with up to Class III rapids, making this a favorite spot for river enthusiasts, particularly during spring runoff. This is a remote, no-fee campground with no potable water available, so campers must bring their own supply. The access road is unsuitable for trailers. Campfire permits are required for all fires and stoves, and fire restrictions may be enforced during hot, dry conditions. Supplies can be obtained in the nearby community of Piedra. The campground is accessible year-round and sees heavy use during peak seasons.
Directions
From Fresno, travel 65 miles east via State Highway 180, then Piedra Road/Trimmer Springs Road (Forest Road 11S12), and Davis Road (Forest Road 12S01). The campground is located along the Kings River.
