About

Kirch Flat Campground occupies a scenic stretch of the Kings River in Sierra National Forest at approximately 1,000 feet elevation. The campground sits on a large sandy flat surrounded by rolling, oak-covered foothills with spectacular views of the river canyon and Sierra Nevada mountains. Oak and pine trees provide good shade throughout the area. The campground features 16 spacious campsites, all first-come-first-served. Five sites (3, 9, 10, 12, and 14) are designated double-family sites accommodating up to 4 vehicles and 12 people, while the remaining sites are single-family with a limit of 2 vehicles and 6 people. Each site includes a paved parking spur, picnic table, fire ring with grill, and food storage locker. Maximum vehicle length is 30 feet, and boat trailer parking is not allowed. This is a primitive campground with vault toilets but no potable water or trash service. Campers must bring their own water and pack out all garbage. The Kings River offers excellent fishing and a popular ten-mile whitewater run with Class III and IV rapids, typically from late April to mid-July. Spring and fall are the best seasons to visit as summers can be extremely hot.
