TRAPPER CREEK CG
Open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. No fee required. Access may be limited during winter due to snow.
About
Trapper Creek Camp Area offers a quiet, primitive camping experience in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests of central Idaho. The single camp pad sits among tall timber along the South Fork Red River, providing a rustic setting for those seeking solitude. The site is free to use and operates on a first-come, first-served basis year-round, though winter snow can make access difficult. Facilities are minimal, consisting only of a vault toilet and information board. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply, and all trash must be packed out. The area is popular for stream fishing in warmer months and doubles as a snow park in winter, serving as a staging area for snowmobilers accessing the groomed trail system.
Directions
From State Highway 14, turn south onto Red River-Dixie Road #222. Follow Road #222 past the closed Red River Ranger Station and continue approximately 4 miles to the camp area on the right.
