About
Ditch Creek Campground is a primitive Forest Service campground situated in the Highway 14 Corridor of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests at 4,500 feet elevation. The campground is characterized by its open setting with few tall trees, providing an excellent location for campers who want to enjoy sunshine and mountain views. Located along Red River Hot Springs Road, it sits approximately 6 miles west of Red River Hot Springs and offers access to Ditch Creek Trail #507. This is a no-fee campground that operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets and picnic tables at each campsite, but campers must treat or filter water from nearby sources as no potable water is available. Visitors are required to pack out all trash as garbage services are not provided. The campground is accessible via Forest Road #234 off of Red River-Dixie Road #222 from State Highway 14. While officially open year-round, the campground is typically inaccessible during winter months due to snow on the access roads. The area offers opportunities for hiking, fishing in nearby creeks, and exploring the remote backcountry of north-central Idaho. The campground's open layout and streamside location make it popular with both tent campers and smaller RVs during the summer and fall seasons.
